Kentucky Fried Chicken is once again showing how tech-savvy it is.
KFC China has partnered upwith Baidu in creating a tech-infused restaurant in the country that will utilize kiosks, that are fitted with facial recognition technology to scan a customer’s face. Once the technology identifies the mood, age and gender of the customer, the kiosk then recommends a meal selection for the customer.
It is possible that the facial recognition technology will recommend a “crispy chicken hamburger, roasted chicken wings and Coke” meal for lunch to a 20 year old male, and a “porridge and soybean milk” to a 50 year old female, for breakfast.
Baidu says that the facial recognition technology can immediately recognize repeat buyers and make order suggestion based on historical data.
Customers say that the new technology is a bit creepy.
Aside from the facial recognition technology, customers are enticed to play augmented reality games by scanning table stickers with their smartphones using a mobile app.
This new technology isn’t KFC China’s first attempt to use the latest technologies available. They yse Baidu’s Duer robot in taking orders.
