Hap Chan Becomes Our Craving Grace

0

The time I spent choosing pants from our recent trip to SM Southmall, Las Pinas, made my wife crave for Chinese food, because I took a long time looking for that perfect fit and style.

However, knowing that our regular chinese fast food place will always be crowded as usual, I brought my wife to Hap Chan, instead.

Hap Chan in SM Southmall is a bit distant from the front entrance and located in the lower ground level near the Bowling center.

Lucky for us, there were still a few tables available in Hap Chan. I’m a bit familiar with the flavors of food being offered in Hap Chan, but knowing that my wife isn’t, a new dine in place will be a welcoming sight for her.

The place was inviting with its red and yellow colored lanterns and chairs.

What’s good about Hap Chan is that they always serve you a free pot of brown rice tea, right before you enjoy the appetizers and the main course.

For those who didn’t know what brown rice tea is, brown rice tea also known as Genmaicha. It is a special blend of green tea and roasted brown rice. Brown rice tea is comparable to green tea. It has a nutty taste and is lower in caffeine than other kinds of green teas, which makes it a good alternative to coffee or drinking tea for breakfast. Brown rice tea contains selenium, a vital mineral that helps metabolism, eliminates constipation, lessen migraines, build stamina, and even affect diabetes and cholesterol problems.

This tea variant can also reduce uric acid levels, water retention and may be helpful to weight loss because it is rich in fiber and the mineral selenium.

Moving forward, we opted to order a regular sized Beef Brisket Noodles (good for two), Chopsuey Rice Toppings, Siopao Asado and Bottomless Iced Teas for lunch.

The Beef Brisket Noodles was an excellent choice, the beef was tender, the slightly thin sized noodles were firm, and the soup, seasoned perfectly.

The Chopsuey Rice toppings is an excellent inclusion in Hap Chan’s menu. As soon as you consume one bowl of Chopsuey Rice toppings, you will definitely ask for more.

I requested for an additional Siopao Asado dumplings, a bit later than our first orders, knowing that it will simply take a few minutes for us to get them.  We didn’t expect them to take a longer time in bringing us our second order.

Much to our surprise, the Siopao Asado dumplings were served newly cooked and still hot from the steamer. Instead, of being disappointed because the order took a long time. We appreciated Hap Chan even more. We didn’t mind waiting for a few more minutes compared to a similar order in another fast food chain. The Siopao Asado was absolutely delicious. It was partnered with siopao sauce, in a convenient dipping bowl.

My wife says that this new food find earns a place in our top Chinese restaurants to dine in. I definitely agree.
